Dear colleagues,

During September 25 – 27, 2025, the Museum of National History and Archaeology Constanța, the Center for Studies of Black Sea Civilizations and the Faculty of History and Political Sciences, the "Ovidius" University of Constanța, with the support of the Constanța County Council and in partnership with the Numismatic Cabinet of the Library of the Romanian Academy, the "Vasile Pârvan" Institute of Archaeology of the Romanian Academy, the Faculty of Theology of the "Ovidius" University of Constanța, Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) in Budapest, The Archaeological Institute of Belgrade and the Argeș County Museum, organize

PONTICA International Scientific Session, 58th edition: History and Archaeology in the West-Pontic Space.

Knowing your concerns, we would be honored if you would participate in the proceedings of this scientific event, which will be held in a mixed format (with physical presence and online). More information about the organization will be posted on the website www.minac.ro and will be sent in due time.

The papers will be presented in the following sections: Prehistory, Greco-Roman, Medieval, Numismatics, Modern - Contemporary, as well as in the following thematic panels:

  • Neolithization of the West Pontic space: theories, archaeological discoveries, multidisciplinary studies (6th millennium BC);

  • Cultural systems in the Lower Danube in Protohistory (1st millennium BC);

  • "Mundus Muliebris". Women's interactions with the world of men in Greco-Roman Antiquity (4th century BC – 6th century AD);

  • 1700 years since the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea (325–2025);

  • Household production and craft: the skill economy in medieval settlements on the Lower Danube;

  • Ancient and medieval coins in the context of civil and military factors from the Lower Danube;

  • Dobrogea – Romanian space (19th–20th centuries);

  • Anghel Saligny (1854–1925) and Dobrogea;

  • Democracy, Holocaust and Communism in Romania;

  • The Black Sea and the Balkans: communities and international relations.

The attached registration form, also available on the museum website, under the "Sessions" heading, will be sent to the section organizers or to the following address: sesiuneapontica@gmail.com, until the date of 1 august 2025.

The museum will provide accommodation and meals for participants starting on September 25. In the case of communications with multiple co-authors, the free stay will be valid for only one participant. Accommodation in a single room will be paid in full.
