SECOND CIRCOLA

We again thank you very much for your interest and for sending your participation forms.
We received around 200 registration forms and 143 paper proposals, which naturally required time to process. We apologize for the slight delay in sending out this second circular.

Congress Venue

Due to the number of participants, it has been more practical to hold the Congress on the campus of Ovidius University in Constanța, rather than in the city center. The campus is located about 5 km north of the center, near the Mamaia resort area.

Main venue address:
Campus Building A, University Alley (main entrance, first floor), 900470 Constanța
GPS: 44.217032, 28.623379

Opening and registration will take place at the old university building:
Blvd. Mamaia 124, Library Building (main entrance, first floor)
GPS: 44.194581, 28.649864

Transportation:
Congress buses will be available to transport participants between the venues, between venues and hotels, and also to and from lunch.

Accommodation and Logistics

Hotel arrangements, transportation, participation fee collection, the mid-congress excursion (included in the fee), the post-congress excursion (optional), and related payments will be handled by Expolitoral Turism:
Website: www.expolitoralturism.ro
Email: expo@infolitoral.ro
Phone: +40 241 555000

Recommended Hotels (special discounted Congress rates available):

These are all 3-star superior or 4-star hotels. Of course, you are free to book accommodation elsewhere, but Expolitoral offers preferential rates for the hotels listed above.

We are currently exploring more affordable accommodation options (e.g., shared rooms) specifically for students.
If you are a student and interested in this option, please contact us as soon as possible.

Excursions

Mid-Congress Excursion (included in the participation fee):
Visit to the Museum of National History and Archaeology in Constanța, guided city tour, and trip to Histria, including lunch.

Post-Congress Excursion – 23–24 September 2017:
Trip to the Danube Delta. Departure from Constanța by bus at 10:30 AM (details to be provided during the Congress).
Price: €98 per person – includes transport by bus and boat, lunch on the boat, visit to the Tulcea Museum, hotel accommodation in Tulcea (dinner available at €13 extra).
Return to Constanța on September 24 via Orgame/Argamum and Enisala, with guided tours and additional site visits.

For booking and payment arrangements regarding the post-congress excursion, please contact Expolitoral Turism and cc all communication to:
irina.sodoleanu@gmail.com (she speaks excellent English).

Congress Fees

The participation fee is 80 euros, payable in cash upon arrival at the registration desk.
(What is included in the fee was detailed in the first circular.)

Arrival & Departure Information

Most participants will arrive via Bucharest International Airport Henri Coandă (Otopeni). While Expolitoral can provide transfers (at an extra cost), we recommend using Alt Transport:
http://alt-transportpersoane.ro/RO/rezervare-online
A one-way ticket to your hotel costs approximately 80 RON. Please make your booking online in advance.

Arrivals in Constanța:
You can also arrange transfers to/from Constanța Airport with Expolitoral, but note that the number of flights is limited (https://www.mk-airport.ro).

If arriving by train or bus in Constanța, please coordinate your hotel transfer in advance with Expolitoral, or take a registered taxi.
Important: Avoid the taxis waiting directly in front of the train station that solicit passengers. Instead, cross the street to the official taxi station on the right-hand side of the station.

Recommended Taxi Companies in Constanța:

Aerial photographs showing the locations of the Congress venue, university buildings, hotels, train station, etc., are attached courtesy of the Museum of National History and Archaeology of Constanța.

Please ensure that you have both euros (for Congress fees) and Romanian lei (RON) for local expenses.

Preliminary Programme

We received 143 paper proposals, which made it particularly challenging to create a balanced programme. Almost half of the contributions will be presented as posters, since we do not organize parallel sessions — this ensures that all participants can attend all presentations.

  • Poster format: Maximum size of 2 x A3 sheets

  • The programme will be updated daily during the Congress, and the current version will be displayed at the entrance to the auditorium.

  • A preliminary programme is attached.

Abstracts

All abstracts and the final programme will be made available:

Duration of Presentations

Due to the intense schedule, each presentation is limited to 15 minutes.
If a speaker exceeds the allotted time, the session chair or the Secretary-General will intervene to ensure fairness to subsequent speakers. Please respect your allocated time.
